Saturday 26th March 2016. The first sunrise following the grand opening of the Shorncliffe Pier to the public on Good Friday. I was proud to be amongst the people enjoying the first sunrise from the new pier. And what a beautiful sunrise it was!

The Shorncliffe Pier was originally constructed in the 1880s and is one of the longest recreational piers in Australia (350 metres in length). It was closed in 2012 for safety concerns and was completely removed in 2014. The new pier was constructed to the same specifications as the original structure with a focus on maintaining the historical and community significance of the site. Congratulations to the project team and Brisbane City Council for successfully completing this iconic Brisbane project.
